Jennifer Lister
Born in a small town in upstate New York, she was the oldest of six children. In the midst of the densely wooded surroundings of simple country landscape is where she grew up. She enjoyed the adventures associated with miles of farmland and the freedom to explore all of the region’s nature. Inspired by all that is organic and fascinated with the thriving plant and animal life, her parents nurtured her needs to express her appreciation for the surroundings of her childhood.
She took to drawing at an early age, continually encouraged by those that knew her best and made her way to attend the art school today known as Pratt and Munson Williams. After foundations, she continued on to attend Syracuse University, where she learned techniques and traditions from the controversial work of Professor Jerome Whitkin. She achieved her Bachelor’s degree in painting in 2002 and moved to the west coast immediately following graduation. Continually inspired by landscapes of any kind, she intends to make her living doing what she loves, which is paint them.
